5:00 AM – Wednesday, February 13, 2019
At approximately 9:30 PM on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, School Administrators received multiple reports of a general threat against the students of and entity of Whitehall Memorial Schools using social media. The juvenile making the threat was immediately identified. Subsequent information also showed a related threat of violence toward at least one or two specific students.
Although there was a reference to “Monday” on at least one social media post, at this time, it is believed that no specific timeline was referenced for any violent act and that no action was imminent.
Parents of the juvenile and law enforcement were notified and the Whitehall Police Department made contact with the juvenile and parents shortly after the report was made. Schools officials were also in communication with any specific students referenced in the social media posts.
The juvenile will be removed from school pending further investigation and any appropriate action will be taken as information becomes more available.
As the Whitehall School District will continue to investigate, with the assistance of local law enforcement, further updates will be provided if and when they are appropriate.
As always, if you feel it is best for your student to remain home, please do so.
Thank you
