MEETING MINUTES…WHITEHALL BOARD OF EDUCATION…March 21, 2018

The March 21, 2018 meeting of the Whitehall Board of Education was held at Whitehall Memorial Conference Room. President, George Everson called the meeting to order at
6:30 pm. Roll was called and a quorum established. Other Board members present: Byron Fields, Jason Molis, Kristen Carroll, Julie Dokkestul and Dan Koxlien. Absent: Leah Johnson. Others present: Superintendent/9-12 Principal, Mike Beighley; Elementary Principal, Damon Lisowski; Special Education/Pupil Services Director, Vickie O’Dell; MS Principal/Improvement of Instruction Director, Beth Lisowski; Assistant HS Principal/Athletic Director, Jamie Youngbauer; Trempealeau County Times Reporter,Abby Sacia.

Carroll moved to approve vouchers as presented. Molis seconded. Aye – All members. Motion carried.

Koxlien moved to approve the following items of the Motion Calendar:

A. Approve minutes of February 21, 2018 Regular Meeting
B. Approve minutes of February 21, 2018 Executive Meeting
C. Approve resignations effective at the end of the 2017-19 School Year: Teachers, Ryan Guza & Haley Weidenhoeft

Dokkestul seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Koxlien moved to approve the first reading of the Joint Powers Agreement for TVC 2.0. Carroll seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Molis moved to approve the draft policy of unpaid lunch accounts. Fields seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Dokkestul moved to approve the District policy for Two-Way Radio coverage and usage with an amendment to paragraph four in section II. Radio Use During Emergencies. Koxlien seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Fields moved to approve the options for half day and full day 4K program to begin in 2018-19 school year. Koxlien seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Administrative Reports:
B. Lisowski –
Four School Co-op Inservice day will be held on March 28th at Whitehall. Ken Williams from the Solution Tree will be speaking in the morning. The afternoon will be break out sessions.
DPI visited Whitehall’s CLC after school program last week. The visit went well and DPI identified many strengths of the program. The official report will be sent to Beighley and the Board in a couple of months.

O’Dell –
Special Education department has been busy with referrals and are working on completing them before the end of the school year.

D. Lisowski –
The 2018 4K-6 Summer School planning process is underway. The remedial schedule is set and staff members are inserting enrichment classes into the sessions. Sessions will be held June 18-21, June 25-28, July 9-12, July 16-19.

Youngbauer –
Working on expanding High School Summer classes to include credited classes. This will allow a student to take elective and required classes.

Everson recessed to Executive session pursuant to S.S. 19.85 1(c) to discuss staffing models for 2018-19 and to review specific plans for school safety. Time: 7:00 pm.
