MEETING MINUTES…WHITEHALL BOARD OF EDUCATION…March 23, 2015

The March 23, 2015 meeting of the Whitehall Board of Education was held at Whitehall Memorial Conference Room. President, David Skoyen called the meeting to order at

6:30 p.m. Roll was called and a quorum established. Other Board members present: George Everson, Byron Fields, Leah Johnson (6:32 p.m.), Kristen Carroll (6:43 p.m.), Julie Dokkestul and Jason Molis. Others present: Superintendent/6-12 Principal, Mike Beighley; Elementary Principal, Damon Lisowski; Special Ed Director, Vickie O’Dell; Director of Curriculum & Assessment, Beth Lisowski; Sue Speltz; Finance Manager, Cheryl Maug; Reporter, Scott Schultz.

Everson moved to approve vouchers as presented. Fields seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Molis moved to approve the following items of the Motion Calendar:

  1.  Approve minutes of February 23, 2015 Regular Meeting
  2. Review minutes of February 23, 2015 Executive Session

Dokkestul seconded.  Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Skoyen and Beighley reported on WASB Day at the Capitol. Board agreed to schedule a listening session with Senator Kathleen Vinehout.

Discussion regarding a potential change to the early graduation policy from a maximum of one semester to one year early. This policy is included in the 300 Series. No changes to be made at this time as the Board would like more time to review this matter.

Molis moved to approve the 2nd reading of the 300 Series Policies. Fields seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Everson moved to approve the 1st reading of the 400 Series Policies. Dokkestul seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Beth Lisowski gave an update on the upcoming Badger testing. Many components of this test have been pushed back or removed because they are not ready to implement yet. The testing window opens March 30th and all students in grades 3-8 will be required to take the test.

Administrative Reports:

O’Dell –

Civil Rights Audit software is not ready yet.

Not enough special education parent surveys were completed online so the surveys will be sent out again.
