MEETING MINUTES…WHITEHALL BOARD OF EDUCATION…December 22, 2014

The December 22, 2014 meeting of the Whitehall Board of Education was held at Whitehall Memorial Conference Room. President, David Skoyen called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Roll was called and a quorum established. Other Board members present: George Everson, Byron Fields, Kristen Carroll, Julie Dokkestul and Jason Molis. Absent: Leah Johnson. Others present: Superintendent/6-12 Principal, Mike Beighley; Elementary Principal, Damon Lisowski; Special Ed Director, Vickie O’Dell; Director of Curriculum & Assessment, Beth Lisowski; Finance Manager, Cheryl Maug; Reporter, Scott Schultz.

Everson moved to approve vouchers as presented. Dokkestul seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Everson moved to approve the following items of the Motion Calendar:

  1. Approve minutes of November 24, 2014 Regular Meeting
  2. Approve minutes of December 8, 2014 Special Session
  3. Accept Co-Curricular resignation: Head Volleyball Coach, Carol Hanson
  4. Approve Co-Curricular Contracts: Head Baseball, Kyle Pronschinske;

Head Volleyball, Kelly Geidd, C-Team Boys Basketball, Greg Standafer

Molis seconded.  Aye – All Members. Motion carried.

Beighley reported on status of demolition for Sunset and Pigeon Falls Elementary buildings. Confirmation to proceed has been received from CESA 10 and DNR. Erickson Excavating has requested that Pigeon Falls building demolition be completed in the spring due to compaction issues. They will assume the responsibility of boarding up the windows and doors. Legacy Construction will begin the demo of the Sunset building right after the first of the year and should take about three weeks to complete.

100 Series Board Policies was reviewed. Board unanimously consented to approve the 1st reading of these policies.

Discussion was held regarding Strategic Planning for 2015-16 and beyond. It was suggested that a retreat be scheduled for the Board and Administration to begin discussions on this matter.

B. Lisowski informed the Board on the Food Backpack Program. A note was sent home to make families aware of the program and all they had to do was sign up. We have received donations from the Food Pantry, Thrivent Coulee Region and the Eau Claire Feed My People Food Bank. In order to participate in the Feed My People program, we must partner with a Non-profit organization. Peace Lutheran in Pigeon Falls has agreed to partner with the District. There are 20 backpacks of food that are currently sent home with students in 4K-2nd.
