MEETING MINUTES…WHITEHALL BOARD OF EDUCATION…November 24, 2014
The November 24, 2014 meeting of the Whitehall Board of Education was held at Whitehall Memorial Conference Room. President, David Skoyen called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. Roll was called and a quorum established. Other Board members present: George Everson, Byron Fields, Leah Johnson, Kristen Carroll, Julie Dokkestul and Jason Molis. Others present: Superintendent/6-12 Principal, Mike Beighley; Elementary Principal, Damon Lisowski; Director of Curriculum & Assessment, Beth Lisowski; Finance Manager, Cheryl Maug; Reporter, Scott Thomson.
Everson moved to approve vouchers as presented. Molis seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.
Fields moved to approve the following items of the Motion Calendar:
- Approve minutes of October 27, 2014 Regular Meeting
- Approve minutes of October 27, 2014 Executive Session
- Accept Co-Curricular resignation: Head Baseball Coach, Damon Lisowski
Johnson seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.
Beighley reported on status of demolition for Sunset and Pigeon Falls Elementary buildings.
Discussion held regarding the potential large Kindergarten class (70) for 2015-16 school year. To be compliant with SAGE regulations district may have to have 4 sections of Kindergarten.
- Lisowski talked about the CLC Family Night that was held on November 17th. There were approximately 150 students that participated with about 375-400 people total. Dinner was served and the activities were well received. Students each received a free book to take home at the end of the evening. Three more family nights are planned: January, March, April.
Skoyen gave a report of the WASB Legislative Conference that he attended in Stevens Point on November 8th. He invited the Board Members to view the WASB web site for more information on legislative issues.
Beighley mentioned that the State Education Conference will be held January 21-23, 2015 and invited the Board Members to register. Rooms have been reserved.
Everson moved to adjourn. Fields seconded. Aye – All Members. Motion carried.
